We have the important task ahead of us for 2011 in educating a new Congress, protecting adult education and family literacy funding at the federal level, and advocating for the priorities we want to see included in a new WIA reauthorization bill.

Here are 11 ways you can recommit to adult education advocacy for 2011. Take our poll in the right column (scroll down) to select your top three:

1. 5 Minutes, 5 Alerts: Commit to responding to 5 alerts on adult education issues in 2011.

2. Update your facts on adult education.

3. Are your Members of Congress “key” in making decisions that impact adult education?

4. Educate Members of Congress

5. Involve Others in Advocating for Adult Education.

6. Build a Local Network.

7. Use Social Media to Advocate for Adult Education.

8. Write an Op-Ed for your local paper.

9. Blog for Your Cause

10. Visit at least five local, state, or federal policymakers to inform them about adult
education in your community.

11. Invite local, state, and federal policymakers to an event at a local literacy program.
